Today Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan has received newly appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mr. Ghela Bezhouashvili.
Having congratulated the Georgian Foreign Minister on his appointment to this post of high responsibility, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Armenian-Georgian relationship would continue developing in the spirit of goodwill, and all of the arrangements reached between the two Presidents and Prime Ministers will be met.
Mr. Ghela Bezhouashvili conveyed to Mr. Andranik Margaryan greetings on behalf of Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli and went on to inform him on the political and economic processes underway in his country.
During the talks, both sides have noted that reciprocated high-level visits paid on a regular basis by senior officials on either side testified to close bilateral cooperation. Also, they positively estimated the existing cooperation between Armenia and Georgia on some issues of international relevance, including the work within the framework of international organizations. In this context, Mr. Andranik Margaryan stressed the balanced position of Georgia in the matter of settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan and Georgian Minister for Foreign Affairs Ghela Bezhouashvili expressed satisfaction at the increasingly growing volume of economic cooperation between two countries. At the same time, they noted that the deepening of the Armenian-Georgian trade and economic cooperation could be promoted by the development of transport communications. However, according to the Prime Minister, some economic issues had certain political context and called for special consideration. Mr. Andranik Margaryan evoked the recent activation of work for the design and civil-engineering of Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway line in counterbalance to the already existing Kars-Gumri-Tbilisi transit, which remained non-operational due to Armenia
