RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation of astrophysicists who are in Armenia to attend Victor Hambardzumyan's birthday centenary celebrations.
Thanking the guests for having accepted the invitation, the Prime Minister said Armenia is attaching great importance to these 100th anniversary celebrations as the future of our country is inconceivable without developed research. "I do believe that amidst the ongoing race of civilizations prevailing will be the ones cognizant of the added value and priority role of research and researchers. The leading edge will be held by such nations as prove themselves able to deal with this difficult task," Tigran Sargsyan said. He emphasized that the current celebrations provide an excellent opportunity for raising awareness of scientific research among the public at large and the youth, in particular. On mentioning that a number of events have already been organized under the auspices of the State, the Prime Minister stressed that the attendance of foreign scientists will undoubtedly add relish to this drive for scientific popularization.
Highly appreciative of Victor Hambardzumyan's contribution, the guests representing the United States, Russia, France, Belarus and other countries said him to be an outstanding figure of fundamental research worldwide. According to them, Victor Hambardzumyan stood at the roots of international scientific cooperation and still continues setting an example in this area.
