RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Microsoft Corporation Vice-President for Caucasus and Central Asia Region Vahe Torosyan.

The Prime Minister thanked Mr. Torosyan for his efforts towards promoting effective ties of cooperation between the Government of Armenia and Microsoft Corporation. He expressed the Government's appreciation of the agreement on cooperation in the field of information technologies as signed between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and Microsoft Corporation in January 2007 and said to be prepared to proceed to the implementation of thereof. "I am glad that we have started cooperating. It is time we discussed tomorrow's programs and provided such conditions as seem to be necessary for implementing them as soon as possible," the RA Prime Minister said. He noted that the IT sector is among his government's key priorities and expressed confidence that the cooperation with Microsoft Corporation will help us become a developed nation in this field.

Then, the parties discussed the practicalities of the above-said agreement. Tigran Sargsyan pointed out the need for establishing a Microsoft's innovation center (MIC) in Armenia. He similarly stressed the importance of making continued efforts towards introducing a system of e-governance in our country.

Vahe Torosyan briefed the Prime Minister on the status of this program and other joint projects by describing their current trends and the expected outcomes.

In conclusion, a firm determination to continue and strengthen the ongoing cooperation was expressed on either side.
