Established in connection with the death of renowned Armenian statesman and public figure, holder of St Mesrop Mashtitz Order Yegisheh Ascatryan, the Government Commission informs that a funeral service will be held for Yeghisheh Ascatryan at Mastotz-24, Apt 7, starting from 18:00, December 4, 2008.
Last farewell to the outstanding public figure will be bid in the Chamber Music House of Yerevan at 12:00-14:00, December 4, 2008, as followed by the burial service in the Yerevan City Pantheon.

Outstanding statesman, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Honorary Academician of the Engineering Academy Yegisheh Tevosi Ascatryan has died.
He was born in 1914, in Chartar village of the NKR Martuni region. After graduating from a seven-year school in his native village, he graduated from the Armenian High School of Baku. In 1932 he was admitted to the Transcaucasian Industrial Institute of Tbilisi, which he graduated from successfully in 1938. Then he entered the Supreme Party School of the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow. After graduating from this institute and getting the qualification of mountain engineer, Yegisheh Ascatryan worked at the coalmines of Donbass in 1938-1939, first as chief of site, then as assistant to the Trust's senior engineer. Appreciating his organizing skills, during the war initiated by Japan at Khalkhin-Gol region in 1939, in accordance with a special decision of the Soviet government, Yegisheh Ascatryan was sent to the Mongolian National Republic as chief engineer of a group consisting of 124 experts. He was supposed to be at the disposal of the commander of 17th Red Army in order to commission coalmines for military supply purposes.
The activity of Yegisheh Ascatryan in Armenia began in 1947 when upon completion of his mission he was appointed as chief of construction of the Yerevan Aluminium Factory. Starting from 1950, Yegisheh Ascatryan was appointed to a number of supervising party posts. In 1954 he was appointed to be chief of the integrated department of industry, construction and transport of the Central Committee of Communist Party of Armenia and played an important role in the construction of power plants in Gyumush, Arzni, Yerevan, cable and rubber plants, "Armelektromash," as well as in the building of several key motorways and other facilities.
In 1960, Yegisheh Ascatryan was appointed to the post of chairman of the ASSR National Economics Board and carried out wide activity in the direction of radical reorganization of industrial enterprises, introduction of new technologies, founding of branches of industrial enterprises in all the regions of the country, construction of some hydroelectric power stations and factories.
Appreciative of Yegisheh Ascatryan's great authority and full loyalty to the cause of economic development, in 1963 the political leadership of the Republic simultaneously entrusted to him 3 high posts: Secretary of the Central Committee of Communist Party of Armenia, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR and Chairman of the Committee of Party-State Control. In order to maintain the state order in the sphere of logistics of the Republic, Yegisheh Ascatryan was appointed Chairman of the Committee of Logistics of the Armenian SSR.
During his activity in Armenia, Yegisheh Ascatryan used to keep native Artsah in the center of his attention. He managed to extend various types of assistance to the economy and settlements of the NKR.
Yegisheh Ascatryan was a long-liver in the political and public life of our Republic. He authored over 60 scientific works in the field of research and development and economics.
Yegisheh Ascatryan was not only a state, public and economic figure, but also he was exacting with regard to himself and the environment, a true citizen, a great patriot, a devoted comrade and friend.
