RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received the representatives of ethnic minorities of Armenia. The meeting agenda featured discussion of social, educational, cultural and other issues of topical interest.
Tigran Sargsyan noted that this meeting’s holding ahead of New Year’s celebrations is supposed to provide a nice opportunity for problem discussion and the making of arrangements on future action. “We are going to possibly address the priority problems in cooperation with you of course,” the Prime Minister said.
In addition to social and educational agenda, there have been discussed issues pertaining to minority groups’ living conditions, the status of community roads and other infrastructures, creation of pre-school establishments, printing of language textbooks, training and re-training of teachers, construction and extension of school buildings and so on. The parties underscored the need for increasingly higher involvement of minority groups in local and national cultural events, the functioning of cultural centers, eventual State support to book-printing efforts, raising public awareness of the minorities’ cultural, historical, linguistic heritage, restoration and preservation of the monuments of history.
In conclusion, Tigran Sargsyan assured that all the problems and proposals voiced by the guests will be examined and their status will be reported back during the next meeting. “I am convinced that you have so far shared in our problems and hardships, therefore you are entitled to benefit from the country’s development,” Tigran Sargsyan said.
Congratulating everybody on the holiday season, the Prime Minister wished every success to all the minority communities of our Republic.
