RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received representatives from Tekeyan Cultural Association (TCA).

Greeting the guests, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation of yesterday’s 2008 Vahan Tekeyan awards ceremony held at the premises of Tekeyan cultural association. Tigran Sargsyan stressed that the Government is of very high opinion of all the undertakings of this cultural association. In his words, as a nationhood-building initiative, the annual gala event promotes Armenian culture, science and arts both at home and in the Diaspora.

“Our people are well aware of Tekeyan cultural association’s activities. I guess you feel very happy to enjoy the possibility of sharing in such a noble mission. Appreciation and the thoughtfulness of other people’s contribution are valuable assets,” the Prime Minister said and, on behalf of the Government and himself, thanked those in attendance for their patriotic deeds.

By RA Prime Minister’s decision, for many years of patriotic activities, Vice President of Tekeyan Cultural Association’s USA and Canada Headquarters, RA NAS foreign member Yervand Azatian, chair of the AGBU Switzerland Office Talin Avagian, head of the TCA Philadelphia branch office Babken Mekerian and President of Tekeyan Cultural Center Foundation Vardan Uzunyan were presented with RA Prime Minister’s letters of appreciation.

On behalf of those present, Vice President of Tekeyan Cultural Association’s USA and Canada headquarters, RA NAS foreign member Yervand Azatian thanked Tigran Sargsyan for participation in yesterday’s event. He underscored that the TCA has always had a pan-Armenian bias. In Mr. Azatian’s words, as early as in Soviet times and especially after Armenia’s independence, the TCA used to be the most active bridge between Motherland and the Diaspora. He stressed that those in the Diaspora collaborate with the Holy See of Saint Echmiadzin to promote cultural and spiritual development in our homeland as they are well aware that Homeland is a vital source for the Armenian cultural life.

The meeting participants assured in turn that the Association will expand the scope of its undertakings.
