The Business Support Council met, chaired by Council head, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

The agenda comprised over ten proposals voiced by the representatives of business community. Council Secretary ADA Director General Robert Haroutunyan said that the proposals chiefly bore on the use cash registers in rural areas, small and medium-size business support, energy saving measures, as well as a number of legislative amendments. After discussion it was decided to organize study courses at the RA State Revenue Committee in cooperation with company associations in order to give clarifications regarding those customs clearance-related facilities offered to domestic importers.

The Council also discussed those proposals concerning the removal of barriers to enterprise development formulated after the conduct of surveys and follow-up discussions. The BSC Secretary informed that topical discussions were held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on April 17-18 involving the representatives of finance, economy ministries, the State Revenue Committee and the BSC Secretariat leading to number of agreements reached and some divergences identified.

The outcome of said discussions was presented by RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Hambardzumyan.

The speaker noted that the labor code amendment- and tax code development-related efforts should be attended with relevant changes to be made in the RA law on social security payments, as well as in the code on administrative offences and the penal code and some normative acts based on government decrees.

Account taken of the broad coverage of the problems raised, the Prime Minister told the ministers of labor and social affairs, finance and economy to keep on holding joint discussions and report back the outcome at the next council meeting.

The Council also discussed the status of the assignments issued at the April 8 meeting. The BSC Secretary reported that some of these assignments have been completed with the balance being in process due to the short interval between the two meetings. He promised to come up with relevant information during the next meeting.
