Meeting with IMF representatives
RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received outgoing IMF Resident Representative in Armenia Nienke Oomes, accompanied by her successor in this post Guillermo Tolosa who used to serve on the IMF Strategy, Policy and Research Department Emerging Markets Unit before this appointment.
Highly appreciative of those tenure-long efficacious efforts made by Ms. Nienke Oomes in our country, Tigran Sargsyan outlined the range of threats caused by the global financial and economic crisis.
The Prime Minister introduced his government’s anti-crisis actions, the local economic implications of the crisis, and gave the main points of the ongoing GoA-IMF cooperation agenda. The head of government expressed hope that the new resident representative will prove as much efficient as Ms. Oomes.
Nienke Oomes thanked the Prime Minister for kind remarks and such a high assessment of her personal contribution and assured of the IMF’s continued support to Armenian reforms.
