A specialized enterprise to deal with import-export problems
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received the members of the Board of Armenia’s National Association of Farmers.
Greeting the guests, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the meeting by stating in part: “Today’s meeting is devoted to an agricultural agenda and cattle breeding, in particular. At the request of Mrs. Tsarukyan, we have come together to discuss the problems encountered in this sphere, as well as what the State must do to ensure progress in animal husbandry in 2010.”
The NAF Board members thanked Tigran Sargsyan for his government’s thoughtfulness of agricultural problems.
During the meeting, the farmers voiced concerns over the future of this sphere by touching upon the bottlenecks faced in poultry farming, fruit growing, beekeeping and sheep breeding. They stressed the need for providing greater export facilities, improving the existing legal framework and drafting a model of prospective development of agriculture in Armenia.
After hearing the speakers, the Prime Minister issued relevant assignments. In particular, the Ministry of Agriculture was instructed to set up a specialized enterprise to address import-export-related issues together with the National Association of Farmers. Tigran Sargsyan made a point of developing an effective model of cooperation by stressing that he was going to take under control the implementation of joint programs.
