Proper organization of the irrigation campaign
Chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Cabinet met in a planned session at the Office of Government.
With a view to filling the financial gap faced by irrigation and water user entities in 2010, the government has decided to allocate AMD 583,700.0 thousand dram from its reserve fund to RA Territorial Administration Ministry’s State Water Management Committee. The Prime Minister stressed the need for proper organization of this year’s irrigation campaign and urged the sector supervisors to provide every possible support to the farmers.
The government took note of Armenia’s report on the fight against human trafficking in 2009.
The executive approved the procedure to follow in making adoptions in Armenia, as well as the order for registration with the RA diplomatic missions or consular services of underage Armenian nationals adopted by foreign citizens, Armenian citizens living abroad or persons with no citizenship. This legal act was passed as part of Armenia’s adhesion to and commitment under the convention on cooperation in the sphere of child protection and foreign adoptions.
The following two programs have been endorsed: “Publication of Diaspora Annals periodical” and “Collection and delivery of teaching materials and popular literature to communities.” The first program is supposed to promote Homeland-Diaspora linkages, activate Armenian communities abroad. The second program will provide for the collection and distribution of teaching materials among Diaspora communities etc.
The government made the 2010 treasury allocations under “Literature publication,” “Non-State literature publication,” “Literature publishing support,” “Design and publishing of new teaching aids and methodical materials for music and art schools.” Concerning the Diaspora Minister’s proposal on prioritizing the publications on the Armenian genocide in foreign languages, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted that the question at point will be addressed in the framework of a complex action plan due to be passed on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
The Executive has amended a previous decree to allow for the granting of driving licenses to deaf persons which is a common practice in almost all developed countries of the world.
The agenda comprised a series of legislative items. The findings of the meeting will be sent to the National Assembly in the established manner.
The government has endorsed the proposal on signing a cooperation agreement between the governments of the Republic of Armenia and the Syrian Arab Republic in the spheres of power engineering and renewable energy.
