RA Prime Minister’s working visit to Lori marz
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan paid a working visit to Lori marz calling at Sanahin monastic complex and Alaverdi community.
Currently in bad repair and deplorable condition, Sanahin monastic complex was the Prime Minister’s first port of call.
Sanahin monastery was put on UNESCO’s list of worldwide cultural assets In 2000 to join Gegard and Hakhpat monasteries, as well as the monastic complex of Etchmiadzin (inclusive of the Mother Cathedral, St Hripsime, St Gaiane and St. Shoghakat churches, as well as Zvartnots temple). The Prime Minister was briefed on the current status and the problems of the monastic complex.
Next Tigran Sargsyan went to Mikoyan brothers’ home - museum and the school after A. Mikoyan. Anastas and Artem Mikoyans played an outstanding role in modern history. 2010 is the year of 115 and 105 birthday anniversaries of Anastas Mikoyan and Artem Mikoyan respectively. The Prime Minister and his delegation walked round the museum and got acquainted with the exhibits on display.
Tigran Sargsyan met with the teaching staff and pupils in the school after A. Mikoyan. A working discussion was held on the spot to discuss rehabilitation of Sanahin monastery. The head of government noted that a complex program is needed to that effect. A special commission is due to be established incorporating representatives of corresponding state departments, clergy and experts. After careful examination of rehabilitation possibilities, the commission will submit its findings and recommendations to the Prime Minister.
Tigran Sargsyan was briefed on the problems faced in Sanahin village community and gave corresponding orders to the agencies concerned. In conclusion, the head of government donated a computer to the village school.
