Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has received Mr. Kalman Mizsei, UNDP Country Director for Europe and CIS, who is in Armenia to present the "Entrepreneurship Development Support" core document drafted by the UN, as well as the 2004 World Investment Report.
By stating that following Armenia's adherence to the UN, his country had maintained positive and efficacious ties of cooperation with that major international organization and its various units, including the UNDP Armenia Office, the Prime Minister reiterated the willingness of the Armenian government to further activate this collaboration. He noted that since the establishment of the UNDP in Armenia in 1993, around USD 16mln-worth of programs had been implemented in our country through funds available under direct financing and donor-assisted joint financing programs. According to him, the bulk of these funds were targeted towards such priority goals as defined in the Millenium development program and poverty reduction strategy up till 2015. The Prime Minister has stressed that through elected representatives Armenia was taking a share in the activities of the UN commissions dealing with human rights and women's social status, as well as in the proceedings of the UN Economic and Social Council and expressed his country's readiness to be nominated for a number of other UN bodies as well. Mr A. Margaryan said to be highly appreciative of the UNDP-sponsored Human Reports which provided an accurate and comprehensive coverage of Armenia
