The Prime Minister commented on medium-term programs and replied to the open letter of youth associations
Upon completion of the government sitting, RA Minister of Finance Tigran Davtyan referred to medium-term programs. The matter was taken up by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan: “The economic rationale behind what Mr. Davtyan said is that the budget deficit we will be sharply reduced over the next few years. During the past crisis year, we operated a drastic increase in the deficit taking it up to 7.7% of the GDP, but now we have to take it down. This means that the level of expenditures cannot be the same, and we have set a target of 3%. Mr. Davtyan was right to note that this is a prudential scenario. If the foregoing positive trends are maintained, we will be allowed to revise expenditure items in the medium-term program.”
Tigran Sargsyan next referred to youth associations’ open letter addressed to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. In this connection, he stated in part: “Dear colleagues, I wish to inform you that a number of youth associations – Sargis Tkhruni students union of Social-Democratic Henchakian Party, Archil Gorki cultural union of Social-Democratic Henchakian Party, Nikol Aghbalyan students union of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Hayazn youth congregation, Guard of Glory freedom fighter children’s association, Adana union of fellow countrymen - have addressed me with an open letter calling for a one-day ban on the activities of leisure and recreation facilities on April 24. I believe that there is no need in government’s intervention as the attitude of the Armenian people is quite positive on this matter. We all have the duty of observing this day of homage, and I think that no ban is needed on April 24.”
