Great victory 65th anniversary to be marked with due honors


Chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Government met in a regular session at the Office of Government.

To provide quick response to the situation in the Nubarashen pesticides cemetery, the government has decided to allocate AMD31650.0 thousand from its reserve fund for the design and implementation of roofing, fencing and drainage system upgrades. The ministries of Emergency Situations, Environmental Protection and Agriculture were told to draft a joint resolution on final dismantling of the cemetery. Tigran Sargsyan noted that the issue was under RA President’s immediate control. The meeting noted that the Ministry of Emergency Situations had already started talks with international organization with the view of to attracting the needed funds.

AMD10262.0 thousand was allocated to RA Ministry of Defense to cover organizational expenses for the gala concert and fireworks dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Great Patriotic War Victory 65th anniversary.

In accordance with the government decree on “Appointment of a project coordinator and implementation of the synchrotron accelerator-based “Candle” international center, the Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to have a 25% stake in the project and invited foreign States and international organizations to contribute to and take advantage of this project. The State Science Committee by the Ministry of Education and Science was said to be in charge of this project. A prime minister-led council has been established to steer work under the project. Tigran Sargsyan mentioned that Candle project sets an example of private-public sector cooperation in the field of science.

The government approved the bill on amendment to the law on State duty stipulating that regional cable TV services will be taxed to the rate of 150 times the base duty.

MP David Harutunyan proposed a legislative package on amendments to the codes on administrative offences and administrative procedure to provide natural and legal persons with more facilities for administrative offence-related application. The package will be approved pending acceptance of a number of suggestions made by the government.

The meeting has discussed the proposed amendments to the laws “On Great Patriotic War veterans” and “On servicemen and their families,” which provide increase in welfare benefits for the foregoing social groups. The government suggested discussing the issue in the context of the government-moved welfare reforms under consideration in the National Assembly.

The Government discussed and issued findings on a number of legislative initiatives which will be sent to the National Assembly in the manner established by law.
