The Government’s anti-crisis program is taking effect
Chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Government met in a regular session at the Office of Government. Before proceeding to the agenda, the Prime Minister addressed the sitting (Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s statement is available under a separate chapter).
Down to the agenda, the government decided to relieve Lida Nanyan from the office of Shirak Marz Governor and appoint Ashot Giziryan to this post. Wishing him every success and fruitful work in this responsible post, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan gave a bried description of those challenges facing Shirak marz. In particular, housing estate was said to be under development in this region of Armenia with a view to accommodating homeless families from the disaster zone in line with the RA President’s electoral program. About AMD 77 billion worth of construction work is being implemented at this point of time most of which in Shirak marz.
The government decided to allocate AMD 80mn to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in order to dislocate 6 electric poles in the way of the cableway under construction at Tatev monastic complex. Noting the importance of this issue, Tigran Sargsyan reminded that the world’s longest cableway is due to be inaugurated on October 16, 2010.
The government next decided to allocate AMD 6,000.0 to the Ministry of Defense subject to transfer to Sardarapat Memorial Complex SNCO for proper organization of Republic Day festivities.
Ministers, government agency heads, marz governors and other State officials were directed and the Mayor of Yerevan and community heads were suggested to take note of RA Finance Ministry’s FY 2009 treasury control performance report in order to take all necessary preventive and remedial action, as well as to ensure that a system of internal audit is functional within the agencies concerned. Tigran Sargsyan hailed inspection and control authorities for enhanced efficiency by stressing the best ones among them should be rewarded, with all authority-abusing officials to be punished.
An interagency commission has been established under a government decree to draft safety rules and regulations for chemical products subject to government approval before September 1, 2011.
The government also decided that “arbun” shall henceforth be construed as a product denomination for brandy allowing its use in parallel to the word “brandy” over the next 5 years. The decision was said to have been adopted on the basis of discussions held with all specialized stakeholders.
The Executive approved academic curricula and timetables for introduction of LOGO computer interface and the “Training-2” computer literacy teaching and testing system.
In conclusion, the government endorsed a legislative initiative on amendment to the law on holiday and remembrance days as proposed by a group of National Assembly members. The amendment provides that each year the 15th of May will henceforth be celebrated as Family Day in the Republic of Armenia.
