CIS Heads of Government Council met in a regular session
Attended by RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan-led government delegation, the CIS Heads of Government Council met in a regular session at St Petersburg’s Constantinowski Palace.
The agenda comprised over twenty draft papers on the furtherance of cooperation in the fields of economy, humanitarian assistance and security. All the drafts have been discussed and approved.
A primary focus was placed on the economic block of interaction within the CIS framework. The heads of government discussed priority action aimed at implementing the concept note on energy-related cooperation between the CIS countries. The prime ministers next ratified the protocol on stages in the formation of a common energy-electricity market. The CIS heads of government looked into the possibility of granting a status of central training entity to Moscow’s Geodesy and Mapping Institute in cadastral, geological and mapping matters. A special focus will be placed on war veterans’ welfare issues. Today’s agenda also featured discussion of a draft resolution on the operations of the farming industry system.
The prime ministers have similarly discussed the program of CIS 20th anniversary-dedicated actions.
As stated by RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, held in an atmosphere of warmth and sincerity, the ongoing dialog may open up vast development opportunities before the Organization. The Commonwealth of Independent States will be marking its 20th anniversary next year which makes it necessary to look at long-term strategic development programs for the period up till the year 2020.
Later today, the Armenian delegation will be back to Yerevan.
