The head of the government received students - economists

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received ten students - winners of the contest of student’s abstracts entitled “I am tackling the crisis” which was held a year ago.

It was organized by Mediamax news agency with the assistance of RA Government and CBA. The authors of best works who are students of Yerevan State University and State Economics University of Armenia presented their views on Armenia’s economic position.

A year later, the authors of 10 best works were given the opportunity to present their vision of current situation and future developments. New analytical works authored by students are available at www.banks.am.

Welcoming them to the Office of Government, the Prime Minister said: “A year has passed after our previous meeting when we discussed proposals made by young people on how we could tackle the crisis through joint efforts. Then we stated that there were quite interesting and original proposals and ideas which could be useful to statesmen in making economic decisions. Our meeting was held as we faced the most challenging times for our economy giving rise to pessimistic views. Nonetheless, your proposals and estimations were rather optimistic and, thanks God, your optimism turned out closer to the truth. According to data provided by the National Statistics Service, we have recorded 7.2% growth this year. This testifies to your better understanding of situation and social moods.”

The head of government went on to hail the initiators of “I am tackling the crisis” students’ contest, emphasizing that the Government will continue supporting undertakings like this.

The students thanked the Prime Minister for reception and assistance. Tigran Sargsyan answered the queries raised by the students which mainly bore on the global financial and economic crisis and his vision of how it could be best coped with.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of meetings like this and expressed readiness to discuss with them any question of mutual interest.
