The Prime Minister visits Kotayk marz
RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan paid today a working visit to Kotayk marz. His first port of call was Marmarik where the head of government was briefed on the pace of water reservoir building activities and discussed details with those in charge of engineering work.
Once in place, the reservoir will help save energy and cope with the existing bottlenecks in the sphere of irrigation. Concerning the reservoir’s importance, Tigran Sargsyan told the journalists: “The reservoir is of paramount importance. On the one hand, it will enable us to streamline Sevan Lake water use modalities and, on the other hand, to enhance system efficiency. Less energy will be needed to pump water toward those areas in want of irrigation. High-cost of water supply has so far prevented us from doing so. Marmarik reservoir will enhance efficiency in water management activities by saving money and electricity.”
With a total budget of about AMD 4.6bn, this project is part of the World Bank-supported Water Reservoir Safety program and will come to completion by the end of 2010.
Leaving Marmarik, the head of government headed to Aghveran where he attended the opening of Aghveran Hotel Complex as followed by the signing of a USD 9 million-worth loan covenant between the IFC and the Armenia-based “Elite Group” company. Note that the company was among the recipients of RA government’s credit guarantee which had been repaid in full by the time of signing the agreement.
Summing up his trip, Tigran Sargsyan reassured of his continued focus on well-balanced and all-round social and economic development of the provinces.
