Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a Chinese delegation led by PRC Deputy Minister of Trade Jung Shan.

Welcoming the guests, the Prime Minister said to be highly appreciative of bilateral relations’ development dynamics. In this context, he made a point of Armenia’s participation in “Shanghai Expo – 2010” world exhibition and highlighted the commissioning of chloroprene rubber producing Shansi-Nairit Armenian-Chinese joint venture. Tigran Sargsyan expressed gratitude for technical assistance received from the Government of China. The head of government said he is scheduled to visit China this September to attend the celebrations of Armenia’s National Day in the framework of “Shanghai Expo – 2010.” The parties looked at the possibility of developing direct contacts between the two ministries of culture. In this context, they said to be highly appreciative of the functionality of a branch of Confucius Institute at the Yerevan State Linguistics Institute after V. Bryussov.

Jung Shang thanked the Prime Minister for reception and forwarded warm greetings on behalf of the Chinese Prime Minister. His country was said to be keen on developing multifaceted relationship with Armenia.

The interlocutors discussed prospects of trade and economic cooperation and implementation of joint projects of mutual interest. The need for making a better use of existing potentialities was emphasized on either side. The parties have agreed that the status of the Armenian-Chinese intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation should be enhanced to expand technical and economic cooperation and increase trade turnover. In this context, the possibility of stimulating Armenian exports to China and boosting tourism was discussed. The Chinese Deputy Minister of Trade advised that a number of cooperation development-oriented arrangements had been reached with the Armenian ministers for foreign affairs, economy and energy and natural resources.
