The head of government received pan-Armenian painters’ conference participants
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan welcomed today pan-Armenian painters’ conference participants to the Office of Government. Hosted by the Ministry of Diaspora and effective in Yerevan since September 6, 2010, this two-day event is held under the watchword of “Art and Business, Art and the Internet.”
Reporting back the outcome of the conference, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hacobyan told the head of government that the forum involved 140 artists from both Armenia and the Diaspora (60 artists from 14 foreign countries and the rest from Armenia). The Minister advised that an all-Armenian painters’ association had been founded as steered by a coordinating committee and added that 4 different expositions had been held to date. The forum was said to have highlighted a number of problems, including the promotion of works by Armenian artists outside Armenia.
Thanking the Prime Minister for reception, the guests pointed to the need for enhancing Armenian fine arts’ standing worldwide and shaping a corresponding art market in line with the international standards. They came up with a number of proposals and recommendations to that effect.
Thanking those present for constructive approach to the proceedings of the conference, the head of government noted in turn: “We are trying to use these all-Armenian forums for mobilizing our artists’ potential. Any problem of mutual concern will be easier to discuss in company as we must define those priorities to be tackled by the State.” Tigran Sargsyan assured of his government’s readiness to back most of the proposals raised by the artists.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for shaping an atmosphere of professional cooperation and building up a pan-Armenian network on this basis.
