Tigran Sargsyan takes part in “Post-crisis Armenia: challenges and opportunities” conference
Hosted by the Government of Armenia with the help of the World Bank, an international conference entitled “Post-crisis Armenia: challenges and opportunities” kicked off today in Dilijan town. The forum will discuss ways of boosting investment, export and growth in a globally changing post-crisis environment, as well as poverty reduction efforts in Armenia.
Led by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the discussion involves several high-ranking public officials from Armenia, a World Bank team headed by Vice President for European and Central Asian Region Philippe Le Hueroux, as well as top international experts and scholars: ex-President of Chile Ricardo Lagos, former Polish Vice Prime Minister and National Bank Chairman Leszek Balcerovicz, former Planning Minister of Venezuela, Professor in Economic Development at Harvard University Management School after Kennedy Ricardo Hausman, Professor in Political Economy at Harvard University Management School after Kennedy Danny Rodrick
The panels will focus on 3 closely interrelated topics: innovation, promotion of exports and investments, increase in public governance efficiency and building of a welfare coalition for reformation. The forum will discuss global and regional developments, as well as ways of enhancing public governance efficiency so as to improve living standards in Armenia by turning it into a more viable and prosperous economy.
The conference proceedings will come to completion on September 12.
