Tigran Sargsyan: “Shanghai Expo – 2010 is a hub of civilizations.”
“We are proud of being able to mark the 19th anniversary of Armenia’s independence together with you on this Armenia Day at Shanghai Expo – 2010 which is a hub of civilizations,” Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at the September 21 meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community of China. This overlap of two festive occasions was said to be an exclusive opportunity to look back at the path covered over the past two decades, as well as to a see what is going on in the world and what we are in for.
“This is an exclusive opportunity for our 19-year-old emerging democracy to get a fresh charge of energy along the road to a prosperous future,” the Prime Minister said in congratulating those present on the Day of Independence.
The meeting took notice of Expo Shanghai Online Bureau’s decision to award Armenia the top prize for best virtual pavilion performance. Besides, the Armenian pavilion was awarded a silver medal for technological devise and engineering solutions.
According to ADA Director General Robert Harutyunyan, the stand has had enough of visitor queues since its opening last May which is a proof of growing interest for our products. Of course, the City of the World is a highlight with its forty residential quarters, designed following different urban development traditions. As assured by Robert Harutyunyan, the solutions brought in this project are deemed to be prospective ones. “This is a project of harmonious communication and coexistence which can rally peoples and nations. It suggests the way future towns can be built on the basis of solidarity and cohesion,” the ADA Director General added.
The Chinese side has been proposed investment programs that can be implemented in Armenia. Talks are underway concerning cooperation in the fields of tourism, hotel building, trade and agriculture.
Another key event was scheduled for September 21: the Prime Minister attended a function on the release of a new independence-dedicated post stamp by “Haypost.”
“The presentation of these independence-dedicated post stamps is meaningful as it implies follow-up and continuity,” Tigran Sargsyan noticed during the event. He appreciated the fact that while marking its independence day in the host town of Shanghai Expo – 2010, which is a hub of civilizations, Armenia is putting forth the idea of the Town of the World overlooked by Mount Ararat.
