New joint projects to promote Armenia-Belarus economic cooperation
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received today Armenia-Belarus intergovernmental commission co-chair, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Belarus Valentin Chekanov who is in Armenia to attend the eighth sitting of the commission which started in Yerevan on September 27.
Greeting the guest, the Prime Minister said to be pleased with the current status of economic interaction and political dialog which seek to further expand the existing ties of friendship between the two countries.
Concerning the outlook of economic exchanges, both sides stressed the need for making a better use of the existing potential. The contribution of the intergovernmental commission, as well as the role of the Armenia-Belarus Trade House due to be opened this September 30 was emphasized in this context.
Minister Chekanov stated the arrangements reached at said eighth sitting of the intergovernmental commission which was said to have looked at the possibility of implementing joint projects in agriculture, education, healthcare, high technologies and tourism. Speaking about the good dynamics of interregional exchanges, Mr. Chekanov highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Yerevan and Minsk.
The interlocutors stressed the need for developing humanitarian ties between our two peoples. In this light, the importance of Armenian Culture Days to be held in Belarus in 2011 was emphasized by Tigran Sargsyan.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan conveyed warm greetings to his Belarusian counterpart Sergey Sidorsky.
