Tigran Sargsyan attends the opening of the new block of Kharberd’s specialized orphanage
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended today the opening of the new block of Kharberd’s specialized orphanage which had been allocated a total of AMD 600mn from the State budget to procure equipment, improve the premises and build up infrastructures.
After watching a short presentation staged by the pupils of the orphanage, the Prime Minister toured the building to get acquainted with their works and living conditions. Tigran Sargsyan next planted a tree in the courtyard.
Thanking the head of government for support, Orphanage Director Haroutune Balasanyan hailed the State Pedagogical Institute after Kh. Abovian for assisting the management of the orphanage with everyday activities.
Founded in 1953, the institution attends the needs of 6 to 18-year-old children with organic and functional nervous and mental disorders. 120 out of 277 inmates are past majority and will be quartered in the new-built block. The pupils are given round-the-clock training and care through the teaching of self-service skills, correction of handicaps and inhibitions, prevention and treatment of diseases, practicing of rehabilitation-oriented exercises.
All the inmates are supplied with individual carriages and perambulators. The orphanage has therapeutic and isolation wards, dental care, radiological, preventive and rehabilitative care units and other facilities.
