Tigran Sargsyan attends Momik’s birth 750th anniversary and harvest day celebrations
Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan traveled to Vaiotz-Dzor marz on October 3 where he attended harvest day celebrations and 750th birth anniversary of Momik, Armenian miniaturist, sculptor and architecture of the Age of Renaissance.
Momik’s museum was inaugurated at the site of Noravank monastic complex which once used to be the church-based seat of the Orbelyan principality where the head of government felicitated those present on the opening of the museum.
After viewing the exhibits of the museum, the commission on preparation of 750th anniversary celebrations held a jubilee sitting, chaired by commission head, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
During the meeting, action plan progress and the list of scheduled events was reported to the Prime Minister. Summing up the meeting, Tigran Sargsyan noted: “We can state that most of the planned events have been carried out, with some being in process of implementation. We initiated a public awareness campaign on Momik’s creative legacy which led to numerous visits paid by young people and a scholarship established to that effect.”
While in Yeghegnadzor, the head of government attended an open-air concert dedicated to Momik’s 750th anniversary and harvest day celebrations, held since 1965. Extending congratulations on this occasion, the Prime Minister said events like this should be given a traditional character. 8 inhabitants of Vaiots-Dzor marz were presented with Premier’s distinctions for active participation in cultural life, including the current events.
Following a tour round the harvest day-dedicated fair, Tigran Sargsyan planted a tree in the nearby alley and visited Momik’s memorial.
Yeghegnadzor’s geological museum was the Prime Minister’s next port of call. Founded in 1968 and rehabilitated in 1998, the museum boasts a rich collection of local archeological findings. The program of Momik’s birth anniversary celebrations features installation of central heating at the museum
Tigran Sargsyan next visited the Gladzor University protected zone-museum (St Jacob Church, 13th and 14th cc) where he could listen to distinguished pieces of Armenian classical music, performed by young artists. The Prime Minister made a record in the visitors’ book.
