Defense Ministry team wins Prime Minister’s Cup
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended yesterday the final game of Prime Minister’s Cup- 2010 in the central stadium after V. Sargsyan which opposed the teams of the Ministry of Defense and the Office of Prosecutor General.
The match ended 3 to 0 in favor of the team of the Ministry of Defense who won the Cup The second and third places were occupied by the teams of the Office of Prosecutor General and the Ministry of Healthcare respectively. The winners were also awarded commemorative medals, sportswear and certificates.
Special awards were established in the following nominations: the best goalkeeper, scorer, player, participant, civil servant which went to the following participants: Paruyr Hacobyan (Ministry of Culture), Samvel Baroyan (Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources), Kamo Harutunyan (State Committee on Immovable Property Cadastre by the Government), Khoren Zakaryan (CBA) and Harutune Tsaturyan (Minister of Education and Science). The fair play nomination was won by the team of the Office of Government.
Addressing the closing ceremony, the Prime Minister stated in part: “Yesterday’s brilliant victory over the national team of Andorra proves that football is on the upgrade in Armenia. I am congratulating everyone out here as today’s victory belongs to all of us. We are striving to turn this game into a mass event in Armenia and reinstate the triumph of 1973. I am convinced that either the AFF is eying the comeback and will succeed in its efforts. Anyhow, it should be noted that the main object of the tournament is to raise public awareness of football in Armenia.”
