Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan hands out housing certificates in 8 settlements of Lori marz
Away to Lori marz, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan called at Sarahart village to hand out housing certificates to 157 households residing in 8 settlements of the marz. The certificates were made available under the State-supported disaster zone housing program.
Congratulating the recipients on behalf of his government, Tigran Sargsyan said the settlers of these new-built private houses will enjoy full ownership rights. “The given undertaking comes to emphasize once again that President Sargsyan’s electoral pledge concerning the accommodation of 7000 households in the disaster zone is coming true in spite of the crisis,” the Prime Minister said.
“This is quite a serious initiative since notwithstanding last year’s economic fall, the program is implemented in full with no funding problems whatsoever recorded so far,” the head of government has stressed.
In his words, the total cost of construction activities targeting some 7000 households in the disaster zone is USD 250mn. “I am happy that 157 households were provided certificates at this stage. We understand that the problem will not be tackled in full by providing accommodation to 7000 families as the marz is facing numerous welfare and housing bottlenecks,” the Prime Minister pointed out and went on to state that after providing housing to 7000 families in 2011, the government will address other social issues as well.
The Prime Minister’s next stop was in Spitak town where Tigran Sargsyan took part in a tree-planting campaign held at the Maters’ District under the Clean Homeland program.
Greeting the participants, the Prime Minister said the program is given an all-out effort and work is underway to raise public awareness nationwide.
“I wish to thank the members of “Miasin” youth movement who have been consistent in assisting the government with the implementation of this program. This is the pledge of success for this program which seeks to propagate patriotism and environmental thinking among the youth.
Our citizens will come to appreciate their habitat if they are given the opportunity of planting one or two trees. I feel that consistency is what matters most in this undertaking,” the head of government noted.
Actions like this were said to be continued in future, with marz governors needing to take the program under their personal control.
“Civil society, including the schools and universities, should joint us in ensuring that the program is carried out in full. We ought to step up on tree planting activities ahead of winter as we have thousands of young trees in store which should be distributed equally in all marzes.”
220 private houses have already been built and allotted to program beneficiaries in the Masters’ District of Spitak town.
