Those responsible for duty shortfalls to be punished
A cabinet sitting was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. Prior to the meeting, the Prime Minister issued a number of assignments for cabinet members (the Prime Minister’s statement is presented separately).
The government approved the following procedures: the order of paying pensions, including the model agreements to be signed between the authorized entity and the bank, the authorized entity and the organization entrusted with cash payments. According to the Prime Minister, this is an important step as it allows the trade banks to service the pensioners who can open an account with any bank of their choice, and the State will provide them with free banking cards. Cash withdrawal operations will be carried out free of charge, too.
- The order of attending the target account established under the 2010-2014 wheat seed-breeding and producing program. In the words of the Prime Minister, for the first time we have set up a fund covering a specific program. While this problem has been repeatedly addressed by TV and other mass media outlets, individual farmers keep on turning to competent authorities for high-quality seeds. They should know that the imported seeds have been earmarked to eligible entities who are supposed to reproduce them and turn back to the State in order we can address the problem of quality seeds within the next 5 years.
- The 2010-2020 sustainable development strategy and a corresponding action plan in agriculture.
The meeting next approved a concept note on upgrading and improving the use of agricultural equipment. In this connection, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan thanked the Public Council and the union of cooperatives for active contribution to the drafting of this paper. For the first time, not only the farming sector as a whole, but either ordinary people in the countryside are given a comprehensive focus in an effort to boost the cooperative movement. Preference in allotting machinery will be given to consolidated farming entities. We will invite renowned international companies to import and service agricultural equipment.
Amending a previous decree, the government reserved the powers established by Pricing Information and Analytical Center SNCO to the RA Ministry of Economy. “The decision ushers in a kick-off of reforms which imply separation of capital expenditure estimates from the system of procurements and will be continued in the years to come,” Tigran Sargsyan said in this connection.
The government endorsed the housing program envisaged for those people who were ousted from Artsvashen community on August 8, 1992 amid military operations. Priority will be given to most needy 482 households out of a total of 704 displaced families. The program is a State-supported one.
The meeting agenda featured some 50 items altogether.
