Today the RA Social Investment Fund (SIF) has held a sitting at the government of the Republic of Armenia presided at by Prime Minister A. Margaryan, chairman of the Fund. Discussed was the report on the activities carried out in the period from July to September 2004.



Mr. Ashot Kirakosyan, Executive Director of RA Social Investment Fund, reported that the work planned for the period under review had been done by 114% with 111% fulfilled under the construction component. He mentioned that in the third quarter of 2004, incentive-oriented activities were carried out at Davidashen and Malatia-Sebastia school communities of Yerevan. 13 project proposals from Yerevan were submitted for Board consideration. Some 8 proposals from school communities and 5 more proposals from district authorities were given expert appraisal. According to the speaker, about 30 engineering contracts were signed with different contractors to a total cost of USD1,785,699. A single contract to the amount of USD98,982 was signed for the supply of two-seat school desks to the whole body of schools in our republic. In accordance with some 30 contracts signed under the SIF-2 program, 30,332 two-seat school desks were furnished to the totality of the schools.
