The head of the government welcomed the participants of the CIS Custom Services’ Chiefs’ council’s 52th meeting.

The Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan took part at the CIS Custom Services’ Chiefs’ council’s 52th meeting today. The session, held in Yerevan on October 25-27, was attended by the leaders of the CIS customs services and experts. The council, which was created on December 23, 1993, has aimed its activity at the deepening of the economic integration, systemization of the CIS customs services’ activities, harmonization of customs legislation and unification of the customs procedures.
At the beginning of the session the prime minister made a speech, in which he particularly noted, “The fact the session is held in Yerevan for the third time proves that Armenia is willing for the activation of regional cooperation within the CIS.
The CIS Custom Services’ Chiefs’ council’s activities is aimed at development and adoption of such documents that will contribute to the full usage of our countries’ economic potential, harmonization of customs laws, facilitation of the customs procedures, coordination of a campaign against the smuggling funds and the protection of the domestic markets from he counterfeit products. A procedure of coordinated operational activities and unified operations for preventing customs violations is being formed.
Let me say, that criminal groups mainly compose a shadow economy. Taking into account this fact, the customs crimes and the fight against the corruption, the protection of the domestic markets from the counterfeit products and the definition of the customs value, the risk management, and the issues related to the exchanging information in an electronic way should be priority in the CIS customs services activities.
I welcome all the participants once again and wish you all a fruitful and productive work.”
