National Competitiveness Fund cuts clear on activity areas

The National Competitiveness Fund Board of Trustees met today in the Office of Government, chaired by BoT chairman, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

In his opening address, the Prime Minister stated in part, “We are to discuss an agenda item proposed by our partners from McKinsey. It has to do with the Fund’s future activities which should be aimed at enhancing Armenia’s competitiveness and international standing. It also provides us with a vision on our competitiveness-targeted programs.”

During the audio-conference, the BoT was presented McKinsey’s competitiveness raising program. In particular, note was taken of Armenia’s economic development peculiarities and incentives to be provided in a number of sectors. The need for upholding public-private sector cooperation was emphasized in the context of economic development and effective reform.

NCF strategy streamlining-related items were discussed during the audio-communication-aided exchange of opinions that followed the debate.

As a result, it was decided to set up a task force to submit proposals at the next January 22 meeting of the Board of Trustees regarding the startup of the program.
