Armenia keen on developing interaction with the Republic of Korea
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Republic of Korea Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia Lee Youn Hoy. In attendance was Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea on the Republic of Armenia Armen Abrahamyan.
Assuring of Armenia’s keen interest in boosting cooperation with the countries of the Asian Pacific region, Tigran Sargsyan appreciated the furtherance of friendly relations with the Republic of Korea.
Noting that great cooperation potential was available between the two countries, the parties talked about expanding joint efforts in a number of spheres, including economy, education and science, culture, information technologies. Business forums were said to be instrumental in boosting contacts between the respective private sectors.
As to the projects already completed, the head of government appreciated the fact that a Korean company had been involved in the construction of the new combined cycle unit at the Yerevan TPP, as well as the holding of various business forums, seminars and cultural events. Tigran Sargsyan thanked the government of Korea for technical assistance and the support extended to the Korean Language Center of the Yerevan State Linguistics University after V. Bryussov. Armenia was said to have been invited to participate in the Buy Korea – 2011 and Seoul Food Show exhibitions.
Ambassador Lee Youn Hoy said he would spare no effort to promote bilateral relations.
The parties evoked the tragic events of last November 23 between the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea. Conveying his condolences to the families of the slain, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stressed that the use of force is unacceptable in the settlement of conflicts.
