Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan: “I am happy to have had the opportunity to communicate, listen to and discuss various issues with Matevosyan.”

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and Hrant Matevosyan Foundation hosted a gala event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Hrant Matevosyan which featured fragments of Matevosyan’s prose, accompanied with classical performances.

Sharing his memoirs about Hrant Matevosyan, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said to have made the acquaintance of Matevosyan some 20 years ago - in 1990 – at the Supreme Soviet of Armenia. The Prime Minister noted that he has learned a great deal from the famous writer. “I am happy to have had the opportunity to communicate, listen to and discuss various issues with Matevosyan. I used to appreciate those discussions very much and will do so in future,” - the Prime Minister said emphasizing that while preparing for the commemorative events the commission took into account the opinions and wishes of Matevosyan’s family members. Tigran Sargsyan expressed high opinion of the coryphaeus of the Armenian prose: “As a highly talented writer Matevosyan was glorified and esteemed by the people during his lifetime. As rare as this may happen, Hrant Matevosyan was beloved and honored by the people.”

After the presentation of Hrant Matevosyan’s website, those present were given the possibility of viewing a film on the great Armenian writer’s life and creative activity.
