Consultation on effective use of EU tools
Presided at by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, a consultation was held today in the Office of Government to discuss ways of making a better use of the tools of the European Union. Note that at the December 9 cabinet sitting hhe head of government directed the deputy ministers and deputy agency heads to attend the December 11 joint workshop co-hosted by the AEPLAC (Armenian-European Policy and Legal Advice Center) and the National Security Council and submit reports on effective use of specific tools by respective ministries and government departments.
Highlighting the issue, Tigran Sargsyan stated in part: “Today’s consultation tends to clarify our vision of the ways the EU toolkit should be applied in our country based on those workshops and consultations held in Armenia: all the ministries and agencies must have a clear idea of their tasks set by the national program and what tools are available from the European Union for NP implementation purposes, as well as of how specific ministries can avail themselves of the EU-proposed technical and financial support. The new year of 2011should be decisive in this respect, and we will have to ensure a breakthrough in our relations with the European Union. Much has to be done in this area.”
In his capacity of coordinator of EU-Armenia joint efforts, Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan spoke on the level and breakdown of the assistance received from the European Union under the national indicative program. The next to speak were those public officials having attended the workshop.
During the exchange of opinions that followed those present came up with proposals on the use of EU tools in their departments.
Wrapping up the meeting, Tigran Sargsyan gave corresponding assignments to the heads of concerned State agencies instructing them to submit the proposals to the Ministry of Economy in writing and within two weeks.
