Pharmaceutical industry in spotlight
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended today the official opening of Arpimed pharmaceutical company’s new sterile stream production lines in Abovian town.
After cutting off the symbolic tape at the main entrance, Tigran Sargsyan toured the GMP standard-based sterilized premises and got acquainted with the product range of Arpimed Ltd. Director General Vachagan Ghazaryan briefed the head of government on the quality control arrangements applied during the processing stage in the fully modernized clinical, bacteriological and scientific labs of Arpimed.
Complimenting the leadership and the blue-collar staff of Arpimed for the work done so far, Tigran Sargsyan stated in part: “Arpimed has created modern standard-based jobs making it possible to export its products in large quantities. The company has some 140 employees who get AMD 140.000 which is higher than the nationwide average. ”
Pointing out that as a strategic sphere, pharmaceutics is kept in spotlight by the government, the Prime Minister emphasized: “We must create favorable conditions for the development of pharmaceutical industry in our country. This implies greater advertising efforts for the home products which meet the international standards and are quite affordable. Lower prices in this area will be crucial in the long run amid ever-growing inflationary pressures. I am convinced that the refurbished workshops will help enhance the quality of Arpimed’s output, and the Ministry of Healthcare will promote them inside the country.”
Appreciating the contribution of the international experts, the head of government hailed Dutch PUM company representative Arjen Bruinsma who was the coordinator of the GMP project.
“Arpimed” pharmaceutical company produces medicine, preventive and treating means, etc. The company has received “International Standard of Quality Management” certificate by the German “TUV Rheinland” company. “Arpimed” also has GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certificate (ISO 9001:2008) granted by the French “AB Certification” company.
Going past the production of solid, liquid and soft products, the company made some USD 1.2mn worth of investment into the sterile injection drugs and eye ointments industry in 2010. As a result, there are state-of-the-art premises and highly sophisticated equipments in place with 40 more jobs available at the company.
