Tigran Sargsyan welcomes Supachaj Panitchpakdi
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received today Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development Supachaj Panitchpakdi who is in Yerevan to attend the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the State commission on protection of economic competition (SCPEC) of the Republic of Armenia.
The parties discussed the “Voluntary expert estimation of competition laws and policies following Armenia’s example” report, made public by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNSTAD) during 6th forum of the United Nations. In this context, Tigran Sargsyan noted that the proposals and recommendations formulated in the report have been included in the legislative package submitted by the SCPEC to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
The interlocutors went on to discuss the projected legislative improvements in the field of economic competition and the development of Commission’s institutional capacity. Appreciating the reforms carried out in Armenia, Supachaj Panitchpakdi said that they are on the right path.
The Prime Minister thanked Mr. Panitchpakdi for tenure-long support in the matters concerning Armenia’s membership to this authoritative organization.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Panitchpakdi advised that the next session of the UN Conference on Trade and Development will be held in Doha (Qatar) in April, 2012.
