Prime Minister attends congress of representatives of Armenian trade and industry chambers and business unions
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended the congress of representatives of Armenian trade and industry chambers and business unions who have come together in Yerevan to set up the Armenian Trade Network association.
On behalf of the Government, Tigran Sargsyan welcomed the congress and wished it successful proceedings. The head of government presented Armenia’s current social and economic status, dwelt on the problems faced account taken of the GDP structure and development trends.
Coming down to economic priorities, the Prime Minister singled out the encouragement of diversification-targeted investments and detailed his government’s efforts to that effect.
Tax and customs reforms were said to be a priority in the context of economic reforms as they are supposed to help better the business environment. The Prime Minister stated in part: “Rest assured that we appreciate the agenda of the congress: the establishment of a common network of industrialists and tradesmen will add considerably to our potentialities. I do believe that events like this may promote economic development in Armenia which to my mind is a common objective for all of us.”
The main goal behind the Armenian commercial network is to set up a pan-Armenian network of business associations, promote the process of business and industry consolidation involving entrepreneurs of Armenian descent. It also seeks to inform homeland- and Diaspora-based business communities on investment opportunities available in Armenia and Artsakh. The congress brings together 30 businessmen from 9 countries.
