Tigran Sargsyan, Daniel Johannes discuss MCA-Armenia program outcome
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received today MCC Chief Executive Director Daniel Johannes.
Appreciative of effective joint action, the head of government expressed high opinion of the achievements of the 5-year-long MCA-Armenia program. In particular, the Prime Minister highlighted the infrastructure rehabilitation, agricultural development and irrigation capacity building efforts.
In turn, noting that the chief objective behind his visit was to get acquainted with the progress in program implementation, Daniel Johannes thanked the Prime Minister for the government’s valuable contribution. He said to have visited the sites of restored canals and met with beneficiary farmers who described the program as quite successful and favorable in terms of increased incomes.
Tigran Sargsyan briefed the guest on those projects carried out with the help of international donor organizations as seen from the perspective of MCA-Armenia program. The use of new approaches, the program’s educational constituent, its sustainability and the involvement of local self-government authorities were singled out as MCA-Armenia’s chief assets.
The parties next discussed the possibility of extending the program, as well as some closure-related matters. In this context, they stressed the need for maintaining and building on the achievements of the MCA.-Armenia program after which the interlocutors looked at ways of using the balance of contingency fund for technical purposes.
