Prime Minister Joins Veterans to Mark Victory and Peace Day
On Victory and Peace Day, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited Victory Park and laid flowers at the Unknown Soldier’s Memorial.
The head of government watched a military parade in front of the monument of Mother Armenia. Tigran Sargsyan greeted the veterans in attendance and joined them for a lunch at a “field kitchen.”
Talking to journalists, Tigran Sargsyan stated in part: “I am glad that the veterans in attendance of this festive event are happy. I can see high spirits and recollections of past victories in their eyes, and all this is conveyed to us and to the future generations. This is what matters most to me.” The Prime Minister said and added: “We must do our utmost to address their healthcare, welfare and economic problems.”
Speaking about the importance of Shushi, the Prime Minister pointed out that the liberation of Shushi communicated a positive impulse to our victories. Tigran Sargsyan further noted that the great patriotic war veterans and the families of Artsakh freedom fighters should be kept in focus by the State.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister left for Vanadzor to offer his victory and peace day congratulations to local war veterans. Tigran Sargsyan laid flowers at the Monument of Great Patriotic War Martyrs and joined the dinner party hosted in honor of the veterans.
Felicitating the great patriotic war veterans, the head of government said that enlisted from Vanadzor, his father had been called up to the Belarusian Front. Tigran Sargsyan recollected his father’s story who used to believe that the holiday of May 9 was one of pride for the people of Armenia. The Prime Minister noticed that Victory and Peace day is of special significance to his family.
