ANQA Foundation Board of Trustees Meeting
The board of trustees of the Enhanced Vocational Training Quality National Center Foundation (ANQA) met today in the Office of Government, presided at by BOT chairman, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
First, the meeting discussed the finalized draft of the procedure for institutional and academic program accreditation of primary, secondary and higher educational establishments.
In particular, the meeting looked at the order of (institutional and academic) accreditation for professional educational programs of Armenia-based educational institutions and specific disciplines, the criteria applicable to the accreditation of educational programs (the objective behind the institutional and program accreditation in educational institutions is to achieve a culture of quality, improved management and international recognition of qualifications) which was developed together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia.
The Board next went on to discuss the proposed expenditures and the schedule of actions. The document was approved along with the proposals and recommendations made by BOT members. Prime Minister Sargsyan charged the Minister of Education and Science to prepare a draft government decree on approval of the above order.
Another agenda highlight was the question of making a final decision on certification which ought to be independent, transparent and serve as a basis for international recognition of the ANQA.
The board discussed and approved a program of technical assistance from Dutch and Finnish certification agencies. Director of Enhanced Vocational Training Quality National Center Foundation Rouben Topchyan said successful program implementation might help the ANQA to achieve international recognition and inclusion in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education in 2013.
In conclusion, the meeting backed the proposal on ANQA staffing.
