Premier Rewards Staff of General Prosecutor’s Office on Professional Holiday
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended a gala event dedicated to the professional holiday of the staff of the Office of General Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia and the 93rd anniversary of its establishment.
The employees of the Prosecutor’s Office laid a wreath on the memorial plaque to Petik Torosyan, one of the founders of Armenia’s General Prosecutor's Office.
Congratulating those present on behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister stated in part: “The challenges faced by the Office of Prosecutor General are quite topical as seen from the perspective of ensuring social development in the country. Today’s fast-changing world is posing ever new challenges and, in this context, the human factor is crucial in the workings of the Office of Prosecutor General. Those efforts aimed at improving working conditions, enabling extended knowledge and trainings will help us meet those new challenges. The problem number one is the fight against corruption since we cannot build a fair and democratic State if we fail to overcome this most serious disease. From this very standpoint, I would like to underscore the thesis that the activities of the Office of General Prosecutor should be transparent and trustworthy which is important in terms of efficiency.”
Tigran Sargsyan noted that by encouraging the best staff for distinguished service, the government wishes to see such leaders as may solve the problems facing society. The head of government congratulated and wished them every success in the exercise of professional duties.
In line with a presidential decree, the head of government awarded Mkhitar Gosh medal to prosecutor of Yerevan Hrachya Badalyan, 2nd class State adviser of justice and Gevorg Yeremyan, prosecutor of Shengavit District of Yerevan, 3rd class State adviser of justice.
The prime minister handed a nominal weapon to Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan. Senior prosecutors Haroutune Haroutunyan and Ashot Nadoyan, as well as Head of Personnel Department of the Office of Prosecutor General Vagharshak Vardanyan were presented with the Premier’s commemorative medals. Medals and certificates were handed out to several other members of the OPG staff.
