UNWTO Supports Tourism in Armenia
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received today a delegation led by UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai.
Welcoming the guests to the Office of Government, the Prime Minister appreciated Mr. Rifai’s visit since it may help boost tourism in Armenia. Tourism was said to be a government priority and from this perspective our country should master and apply the experience and know-how available at the UNWTO.
Thanking the Prime Minister for reception, Taleb Rifai said to be highly appreciative of the Government’s tourism development-targeted efforts of recent years which should draw upon Armenia’s huge potential in this area.
Emphasizing that the Government was right to declare tourism as a priority area, the UNWTO secretary-general said his organization stood ready to assist Armenia with the ongoing efforts. The achievements of 2010 were said to be quite impressing in this respect.
Speaking about the Government’s country attractiveness-raising efforts, the parties stressed the need for implementing joint educational and training programs, as well as shaping and building on Armenia’s tourist brand.
