Yerevan City Transport Program Details Discussed in Government
The North-South Road Corridor and Sustainable Urban Development Investment Program governing council met today at the Office of Government, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
Before proceeding to the agenda, the Premier advised that Mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan had been engaged in council proceedings as a stakeholder representative.
An expert from the ADB Central and Western Asia Region Urban Development Department gave details of the main directions and mechanisms of implementation of Yerevan town transport program. Motor traffic via downtown Yerevan was said to be considerably eased by linking Artashat highway with that of Ashtarak and expanding the road network between the capital and the provinces.
The meeting discussed and approved a declaration on submittal of consultant’s TOR and EOI for the design, construction management and monitoring support for the Yerevan city western circular road project as developed under the Sustainable Urban Development Investment Program - Program 1 (special actions).
The meeting next endorsed the composition of the sustainable urban development investment program bid evaluation commission involving stakeholder representatives and independent experts.
Also, a decision has been passed to appoint the deputy economy minister to the post of governing council secretary for sustainable urban development investment program-related affairs.
