Baze Camp Kicks Off In Byurakan
Head of Armenian Youth Foundation Board of Trustees, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met yesterday with the participants of Baze youth camp which started on July 22 in Byurakan. The head of government was briefed on daily life and living conditions in the camp.
Welcoming the participants of the camp, the Prime Minister noted: “In general, Baze means a lot to us. It is an attempt to rally youth and also to generate a specific atmosphere to inspire us patriotism and dedication. It is an opportunity for you to understand the reason of your existence and struggle.”
Pointing out that many of today’s public officials used to be members of Baze movement, the head of government expressed conviction that this time as well several outstanding personalities will leave the camp to shoulder the noble mission of statehood engineering.
Tigran Sargsyan next attended a camp-fire function organized by the participants.
The camp is attended by over 700 young people at the age of 18-30 from 10 marzes of Armenia and 12 administrative districts of Yerevan who are residing in tents. The camp program has many exciting features, including a march to Amberd.
The camp is held in three shifts each symbolizing one of the strips of the Armenian tricolor.
Each shift will involve 220 teenagers. Special awards are available for any of the following 3 nominations: “Best Sporting Team,” “Best Cultural Team” and “Best Organized Team.”
Note that Baze camp is hosted by the Armenian Youth Foundation in cooperation with the national scout organization. It will last till July 31, 2011. The second stage of Baze youth festival – a pan-Armenian youth gathering will be held August 20-24 in Tsakhkadzor involving some 350 young people from Yerevan, the provinces, Artsakh, Javakhk and the Diaspora.
The youth festival will be crowned with a concert due at Liberty Square late on August 24.
