Lechashen Section Of Sevan-Martuni-Getap Highway In Service
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended the opening of the completely upgraded two and a half kilometer-long Lechashen road section of Sevan - Martuni-Getap central highway.
Accompanied by Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan, the head of government traveled to the upgraded site to get acquainted with the completed works.
Under reconstruction since 2008, the target section went under water due to the rise in the level of Lake Sevan. As of now, the road meets the commissioning standards and is completely safe for traffic. Sizeable shore-protective activities and civil works have been carried out on the site, including the installation of metallic roadside barriers. The road surface is now 3.7 meters above the lake level.
AMD 968mn has been invested altogether.
Allowing for a possible increase in water level, the refurbished road is expected to remain under service for at least some 10-12 years ahead.
