Agriculture, Economy and Emergency Ministers Report Back First Half-Year Performance
The ministers of agriculture, economy and emergency situations submitted today performance accounts for the first half-year of 2011 reporting back the status of priority tasks.
Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan stated the following priorities: increased farming efficiency and community assistance programs-triggered higher household incomes in rural communities, development of cooperation in at least 40 communities, achieving greater service impact by means of reformed information and public awareness raising systems in the agrarian sector.
Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan reported on the following priority actions: clearer definition of the government’s long-term social and economic policy, improvement of Armenia’s Doing Business rating, developing and introducing an export-based industrial policy, implementation of nationwide quality infrastructure reforms.
The two ministers were told to exercise direct control over the status of some most important tasks in order to meet the specified deadlines.
Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan stated the following priority tasks to comply with: assessment of seismic and fire-related risks for the most risk-exposed kindergartens and schools of Yerevan, establishment of a unified monitoring system for detection and assessment of emergency situations-related threats and risks.
According to the minister, his agency had been assigned a number of other priority tasks as well, such as forming early-warning volunteer rescue squads in communities, especially in high-mountain and border regions of Armenia, improving the quality of technical safety-related services, minimizing contacts with economic entities, keeping to the one-stop-shop principle.
The head of government referred to the financial performance of each agency and made a general assessment of staff activities.
