PM Receives UNICEF Resident Representative



Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received outgoing UNICEF resident representative to Armenia Laylee Moshiri-Gilani.

Greeting Ms Moshiri, the Prime Minister stated in part, “The Republic of Armenia is highly appreciative of the role assured by the UNICEF and yourself in protecting Armenian children’s rights and improving their health and life.”

Tigran Sargsyan described UNICEF’s Armenia activities as quite efficacious strong with an impressive spectrum of programs contributing to the social inclusion of asylum children.

In turn, Laylee Moshiri-Gilani thanked the head of government for high-level cooperation and support as the pledge for UNICEF Armenia office’s efficacious work. She stressed that the Government’s approaches to the protection of children’s rights had gone a long way toward promoting many welfare projects. Laylee Moshiri-Gilani assured that her organization would continue assisting Armenia with the reforms underway in social services and in the field of children’s rights protection, as well as by supporting the programs implemented to that effect.

The next UNICEF resident representative to Armenia will take up office in September, 2011.

The UNICEF Armenia office was established in 1994. The United Nations Children’s Fund strives to improve Armenian children’s living conditions, prevent incidences of child diseases and infant mortality, provide for prenatal care and childbirth safety measures, promote their right to education, combat ill-treatment and the trafficking of children.
