PM Receives Mark Horton





Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received today a delegation led by Head of IMF Armenia Mission Mark Horton. In attendance was IMF Resident Representative in Armenia Guillermo Tolosa.

Discussed were the main directions of Armenia’s economic policy and the development outlook.

Mark Horton described the pace of Extended Funding and Extended Lending 3-year program and the outcome of the IMF Armenia mission’s visit. In this context, the parties touched upon the fiscal and monetary policies, tax and customs administrations, business environment improvement and inflation checking efforts.

Stressing that inflation is largely down as compared to the March index, the head of the IMF Armenia mission hailed the government’s action and the set of reforms for 2012drafted by the Ministry of Finance and the State Revenue Committee by the Government. The mission’s current visit was described as successful considering the arrangements made in the target areas.

With reference to to his government’s programs, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said that during the September 19 visit to Brussels We submitted today to EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Füle a new package of reforms consisting of actions in 33 target areas. European Union was said to have built on the financial and technical support for Armenia against implementation of said measures according to the “More for More” principle.

The guests reaffirmed the IMF’s readiness to possibly back and bolster the programs implemented by the Armenian government.
