Tigran Sargsyan: “We can build a high-quality and competitive educational system up to modern standards by 2020”
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended today the opening of “Education, Science and Economy in Universities: Integration into International Educational Territory” 3-day symposium.
The forum brings together 120 delegates from Armenia, Poland, Slovakia, Canada, Russia and Kazakhstan. The symposium seeks to review the problems faced in the given field and suggest solutions.
Welcoming the participants, Tigran Sargsyan said the Armenian government sees the future of our country in the buildup of human potential and competitive civil society. According to the Prime Minister, education has been a priority to our country for the past 20 years with reforms aimed at improving the educational system.
Considering it important to use the joint efforts as a tool for integration with international educational networks, the head of government said it is necessary for setting up and developing a competitive educational system enabling the training of economy-required high-quality specialists: “We should be aware that everyone is part of the global social-cultural system and that educational cooperation is the key feature of a peacefully and consistently developing democratic State.”
Noting that the government is responsible for the provision of high-quality and affordable education, Tigran Sargsyan said that the government is taking all the necessary measures to provide equal opportunities for State-run and private educational establishments. According to him, the development of educational system should be the center attention of both public agencies and civil society.
“We are confident that we can build a high-quality and competitive educational system up to modern standards by 2020. In addition, we hope to become a trustworthy partner for the European educational system. I am sure that the forum will provide a fresh exposure for educational problems, requirements and development possibilities,” the Prime Minister said.
