Tigran Sargsyan: “Tourism May And Must Be Diversified In Armenia”
As part of Armenia independence 20th anniversary celebrations, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan took part in a festive event dated to International Tourism Day, attended by representatives of tourism industry.
Congratulating the guests on International Tourism Day, the Prime Minister said it to be another opportunity for looking back at the last 20 years’ developments in the sphere of tourism and thinking of future plans.
“In my opinion, everyone in here is sure of one thing: Armenia has a huge potential for tourism development which remains to be tapped on yet. Tourism may and must be diversified in Armenia. New activity areas have to be identified with the government having a lot of tasks to fulfill in this field in close cooperation with the stakeholders and specialized entities.”
Tigran Sargsyan said to be pleased with the recent achievements realized through public-private sector partnership. In this context, the Prime Minister evoked the National Competitiveness Fund-backed Tatev project-related investment projects.
“The above project implied government-supported dozen million dollar-worth investments. Should private investors come up with development-oriented initiatives the government will take charge of infrastructures.”
According to the head of government, electronic tools will have to be applied is we are to secure a place on the global networks. In this context, Tigran Sargsyan reminded that a system of online bookings and information is already available in Armenia.
In conclusion, a number of representatives of the sphere were awarded with the Premier’s appreciation letters.
